The mobile workflow just got an upgrade…

Well, now. Just weeks after my last post on experimenting with a mobile workflow, Adobe® goes and releases it’s suite of Touch apps, one of which is the Photoshop®Touch. It’s only available for Android (and only for tablets at that) at the time of this writing, but an iOS version is apparently in the works.

I haven’t had a lot of time to fully explore its functions, but what I have managed to play with is simply amazing given that it’s designed for a mobile/tablet OS. It is not free, however, but one would think that US$9.99 is a real bargain if you compare it to the retail price of a full-blown Photoshop CS5 - but of course, you get tons more features with the latter.

That said, this is quite possibly the most advanced photo editing app to date for a mobile platform; with the capability to use layers(!), a variety of selection tools, and your usual set of filters for that quick and dirty edit. The layers can even be edited in the desktop Photoshop CS5, something which is on my list of things to try in the future.

The video below from Adobe provides a good inkling of what you can expect to get with your 10 bucks.

Adobe Photoshop Touch Overview

Without further ado, feel free to make your way to the Android Market now and try it out for yourself!
